EXETER TOWN MANAGER’S CONTRACT!!!

With hypocrisy reaching new levels in Exeter I just could not resist adding my two cents worth about the extended seven year contract negotiated by the Board of Selectman with the Town Manager on a vote of 3-2.

Anybody that watches the BOS meetings on channel 22 can’t help but notice that the lunatic fringe is getting active again.  We have one of the founding members of the fringe on the board with another board member who has been inducted into the Lunatic Fringe Hall of Fame for a frequent vote of 3-2 on many issues.  It is pretty obvious that the (2) are not good fits for the Board.  I believe they have an agenda that is not good for the Town of Exeter.

I am sure that anyone watching the Selectmen’s meetings can see the toxic political environment that is permeating Exeter.  Fortunately we have a selectman’s election coming up in about a month and can make the needed adjustments at that time.

Let’s look at why the BOS agreed to a seven year contract for the Town Manager.  The lunatic Fringe has been trying to get the TM fired or harass him to the point that he quits.  He was sued by the Fringe, and harassed, as well as the Selectmen, at almost every meeting.  This politically unstable group wants to either run the town or be a shadow government that runs the town.

If the Fringe gets one more vote on the BOS the Town Manager would be gone except by the new contract that was negotiated to keep him for (7)  years and hard to fire him without cause.  The TM has children in school and it would be bad for the town and his family to be under the constant threat of losing his job and family livelihood just because the Fringe wants to prove they have power.

My question to the voters and taxpayers in Exeter is what direction is Exeter going in that you don’t like?  We do have a healthy discussion on growth verses not in my back yard (NIMBY’S) who don’t want any growth.  The town is vibrant, beautiful and I believe moving in the right direction on most fronts (except the dam). I believe three members of the BOS understood this when they negotiated the TM’s contract.

Generally, I would not support an extended contract but because of this politically toxic environment I think it was fair to the TM and the Town of Exeter to continue to move Exeter forward.  It looks like the TM, for just cause, can still be removed; but difficult for personal or political design. So Russ don’t screw up.

A FELLOW COMBAT VETERAN SPEAKS UP!!!

This was given to the Stratham Selectman's Office, the Marine who sent it did not want his name used in my blog; but signed the letter to the BOS.  If you're not a combat veteran you wouldn't understand.

To whom it may concern,

   I am a combat Veteran who served with the 3rd Marine Division, 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, Alpha Company in Vietnam. I've been a resident of the Town of Stratham for the past thirty-five years and have an engraved brick installed within the Veterans Memorial at Stratham Hill Park.

   My comrades and I experienced heavy combat. Within my Battalion we lost 223 men Killed In Action. As of 2003, of the 223 men, 29 bodies still have not been recovered and brought home.

   Fourteen of those 29 men still listed as MIA/BNR, (Missing In Action-Body Not Recovered) were from my Company, Alpha Company.

   If there is no room within the Stratham Veterans Memorial for the POW-MIA Flag which represents my Brothers, still Missing In Action, than there is no room for me. Because of this lack of respect shown for the POW-MIA Flag and my Brothers, I view the Veterans Memorial as a place of no honor.  

   Therefore, I request that my brick be removed immediately and not reinstalled until the appropriate honor and recognition of my lost Brothers is allowed within the Veterans Memorial at Stratham Hill Park.

STRATHAM: THE FIGHT FOR THE MIA /POW FLAG POLE!!!

 

I am very proud of the voters, taxpayers and Military Veterans in Stratham for fighting back against a very poor and disrespectful decision, by their Board of Selectmen, to not allow the MIA/POW Flag to be flown at Veterans Park in the Stratham Hill Park.

 

 The citizen petitions, and they’re several being circulated, have been garnering names and disbelief as to why they can’t pay respect to those who have died and unable to be recovered.  Now it just seems to be a battle of wills from the Selectmen against the voters and taxpayers of Stratham.  The big question is, are there enough signers and voters to start replacing the Selectmen?  Elected Officials very rarely win a battle with the voters in the long run.  Will this be the second loss for the selectmen, the first being the water vote and now this?

 

It is also very disappointing to see the local newspaper not getting a real feeling for what is going on and the issues being fought over.  The Seacoast Newspapers have been having a problem with readership and will probably lose more over missing the meaning of this issue.

 

PETER WIGGIN has done a remarkable job of communicating this issue, and has shown the love and respect the WIGGINS, the first family of Stratham, have for doing the right thing, and the wonderful people of Stratham have heard the message. It is not just the veterans fighting for this, it is the wives, husbands, sons, daughters, grand children and grand parents signing these petitions they are carrying the fight.  There is a very large, but, quiet veteran’s population in Stratham each with untold stories and missing friends who, are supporting this effort

STRATHAM’S SHAME!!!

I remember growing up in Exeter and appreciating the simplicity, beauty and togetherness of the area; including Stratham.  Stratham was a beautiful rural farming community. 

Stratham is between Exeter (which was its closest shopping area and Portsmouth which was a bigger shopping area with more hustle and bustle.  In fact if you hadn’t seen someone in awhile just go grocery shopping in Exeter on a Friday or Saturday night, you’ll find them.  Everybody pretty much knew everybody else.

Times have changed Stratham, looks like Salem, NH, with the auto mile and no central district.  But the one thing that has not changed much is Stratham Hill Park.  Over the years it has been upgraded and everybody enjoys the Stratham Fair.  One of the upgrades is the town has added their small but meaningful veterans park that was designed and built by Peter Wiggin.  The Wiggin family is probably the oldest family to still live in Stratham and is so much part of the Town’s history.  Peter’s love for Stratham is sincere and genuine and he always gives with little takes.

Now the political governing body in Stratham is refusing to allow the POW Flag to be flown at their Veterans Park.  In fact one person on a local board referred to the POW flag as a hate flag and supposedly one of the Selectmen said there was no place for the flag to be flown in Stratham.  This takes me back to the hippie 60’s where people would smoke a lot of pot and protest the Vietnam War and those of us who suffered and fought through it.  If my theory is correct this proves how bad long term use of marihuana is on the human brain.

POWs as we refer to are dead, they know they're dead, I know they're dead and we know they're dead.  This flag honors those bodies yet to be reclaimed.  By not allowing the POW Flag to be flown where other veterans are honored is absolutely shameful and not only brings shame to the Selectmen but to the Town itself.  I know many of the woerful people in Stratham who disagree with the anti veteran/pow stance and respect them gratefully.

Let me tell you a little war story that still bothers me to tell it.  I was just 18 yrs old when I was sent to Korea in 1966.  I thought I was lucky that I didn’t get sent to Vietnam, although all my friends did and because of my extra infantry training specializing in guerrilla warfare, mostly reconnaissance and extended patrolling, I ended up north of the Im Jin River at the DMZ with Company C 1^st Bn 38^th Inf, 2d Division.  On a small scale the war was still being fought.

Because of increased infiltration and enemy patrolling into the DMZ and South of the South tape we were directed to dig defensive positions at the South Tape.  That is not easy with little GI shovels.  Another kid and I were digging and kept having to cut through roots of trees, and were tough to cut out.  As I was digging I came across what I thought was a root and I am whacking away and I found it wasn’t a root, it was a boot.  I told the kid with me, “hey look I found a boot”, upon closer inspection I found a decomposed foot in it.  We immediately stopped digging and called our duty officer.  What we did was dug into a mass grave.  What we found out later was they were all Americans, about 85 total that were probably buried by the Chinese.  We knew they were Americans because they all had their dog tags or enough of them did and the Chinese would bury our soldiers, sometimes.  Up until then they were MIAs, after 15 yrs or so they were finally able to come home.

The POW/MIA flag is not just a flag it is a commitment by our country to those who might never come home.  Not just a “thank you for your service”, but a god bless you and thank you for your suffering.  If we cannot show our love, respect and our gratitude then we, as a country, have lost our way.

I read an article in the Exeter News Letter abouth the refusal of the Board of Selectmen to allow a POW Flag to be flown at their Veterans Park (a park that was designed and built by Pete Wiggin) so I gave Pete a call to find out what was going on and this is his unedited reply.  I am going to comment on this in a second blog; but, these are the facts.

It was good talking with you the other day. I am forwarding the answer to your question regarding what my "Impassioned Stand" consisted of in the news story which occurred in the December 23rd article in the Exeter Newsletter entitled, "Selectmen stand by decision not to fly MIA/POW flag".

I thought it best to forward this in a simplified bullet format for ease and clarity of understanding regarding the controversy.

A follow up story specific to the veterans concerns is to occur in the Exeter Newsletter following my filing of the Citizens Petition with the Town of Stratham. That should occur in the next week or two.

Editor Paul Dietterle has assured me that reporter Allyson Johnson will be able to complete her previous reporting which was considerably edited due to the Exeter Newsletters privacy concerns for the veteran interviewed.

Following are the subjects I talked about at the meeting :

I spoke specifically to the issues related to ALL those men and women listed as Missing In Action MIA.

I did this with the permission of, materials and information given me by two Veterans of the Vietnam War. One a resident of the town the other a non resident. I emphasized the importance of the Stratham Veterans Memorial to ALL veterans who have sacrificed in so many ways for our country.

I appeared at this meeting for the sole purpose of representing these two combat soldiers and their concerns.

The non resident Veteran had given me a letter to present to the Selectmen expressing his thoughts and concerns. This I did. I also described to them his personal experience on the field of battle, described in the letter, which he felt necessitated his involvement as a non resident with the controversy here in Stratham.

He also gifted me a South Vietnamese flag in recognition of my past efforts for this cause. This I exhibited to the Selectmen. None could identify it so I explained its importance to them.

The resident Veteran, a former Marine who served with the 3rd Marine Division, 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion in Vietnam was actually present that night and spoke with the reporter separate from my presentation. It is that interview which I understand will make up the follow up story following my filing of the Citizens Petition.

He had previously supplied me with a five page list of his Battalions casualty statistics. These I presented to the Selectmen.

The list included those Killed in Action (KIA). Two Hundred and Twenty-Three men.

The list included those Killed in Action, Bodies Never Recovered (KIA) (BNR). Twenty-Nine men.

I followed up this presentation with the most recently released statistics from Washington of those listed as Missing in Action (MIA) for the individual wars. They are as follows :

World War I, 3,344. World War II, 78,503. The Korean War 8,032. The Vietnam War 1,651.

The total for these wars is Ninety-One Thousand, Five Hundred and Thirty (91,530) presently listed as Missing In Action.

I then made an Impassioned Plea in hopes that this NEW information supplied by me to them and these numbers might have some impact on their former decision to NOT fly the POW-MIA flag within the Veterans Memorial. I explained how important the POW-MIA flag was to ALL veterans such as these and their families whose most iconic symbol, acknowledged nationally, is that flag.

My plea fell on deaf ears. As the article describes, all three now stand by the previous decision to not fly the POW-MIA flag on the single pole within the memorial.

At the conclusion of this meeting and its reporting, my 'Letter to the Editor' which also appears in the December 23rd issue now stands as much more representative of the contrasting views and facts related to this issue.

As such, it is not surprising that the resident veteran has requested of me that his brick be removed from the memorial. He feels that he can not with clear conscience be represented within a memorial that fails to represent the ultimate sacrifices of his Brothers. Many of who remain still, Missing In Action on the field of battle. In this I support him 100%.

It is my understanding that the resident Veteran has supplied additional information to the Exeter Newsletter as well as a letter from the town dated January 12, 2011 which will add significantly to the overall understanding and background of this most narrowest of views expressed by the Selectmen. I believe that this information will be well described in the follow up article by the Exeter Newsletter.

History does not appear to be a required course in schools now so we have a whole generation or two of young people who do not know or understand how our country was founded (the good and bad) and being taught by Socialist professors like the same that raised Obama.  So if they don’t get their own way they feel entitled to riot and destroy.

 

I know the liberals will go nuts but I accepted years ago that Obama is a racist; he can’t hide it that is how he was raised.  He single handedly picked the dormant scab of racism and by following Saul Alinsky’s teachings caused the major divisions that we have now.  He was calling Trump a racist as were the Democrats in the campaign, and talking about the KKK.  Where was the outrage when Obama and the HRC Democrats were endorsing the Black Lies Matter group?

 

This last election was a direct repudiation of the liberal agenda of elitism and condescending arrogance. I know the liberals (or progressives as they like to be called) don’t like being called out in this manner; but, it is overdue.  Some of the wannabe self proclaimed black leadership were on the news professing this election was a “white racist backlash” against a black president.  Only the liberals are stupid enough to believe this.  Obama was elected twice as president and this vote was not about his color; it was about his arrogance and his policies.  Remember when Obama said the United States is no longer a Christian nation and how the Muslims helped found our country?  That must have been why, in our early years, we had to send our marines and navy to Tripoli to kill them because they were attacking our merchant trade, enslaving our sailors and beheading them just for fun.  I guess they don’t teach that in school.

 

Our country was founded on our Christian beliefs and our belief in god, our founders acknowledged that one nation under god.  For any soldier that has been in true combat understands that sometimes his/her belief in god is the only thing that will help them get by.

 

If we do not understand where our country came from we will never figure out where we are going.

All this noise about what he said 11 years ago is ridiculous, although inappropriate doesn’t do a thing to move our country into the future.

 

Although he is a multibillion dollar construction worker, which seems to be where his sense of humor comes from it should be noted that he grew up rich and by some standards good looking in the entertainment field; that is a synthetic different world than you and I grew up in.  I don’t believe he had to go out and forcibly attack women like Bill Clinton did and had to.

 

It is obvious that Trump has lead the kind of life most guys would envy as long as we can separate what he does from what he says.

 

Any of the comments that just came to light were not said as a presidential candidate but more of an entertainer talking trash to another entertainer 11 years ago.  Hillary claims this campaign is in the gutter, she should know she took it there.

 

If there is a good point of all this nastiness it is to keep Trump reminded of just how vicious and nasty the Clintons’ are.  The secret service can attest, but, they can’t tell, just what a potty mouth nasty, nasty person Hillary is.

 

The major differences between the two is Trump can change.

If you're over 35, you lived through it, so read it and recollect. Amazing to me how much I had forgotten! For those under 35, read this, verify and don't forget. When Bill Clinton was president, he allowed Hillary to assume authority over an attempt to health care reform. Even after threats and intimidation, she couldn't get a vote in a Democrat controlled US Congress. This fiasco cost the American taxpayers about $13 million for studies, promotion, and other efforts. Then, President Clinton gave Hillary authority over selecting a female attorney general. Her first two selections were Zoe Baird and Kimba Wood - both were forced to withdraw their names from consideration. Next, she chose Janet Reno - husband Bill described her selection as "my worst mistake." Some may not remember that Reno made the decision to gas David Koresh and the Branch Davidian religious sect in Waco, Texas resulting in dozens of deaths of women and children. Husband Bill allowed Hillary to make recommendations for the head of the Civil Rights Commission. Lani Guanier was her selection. When a little probing led to the discovery of Ms. Guanier's radical views, her name had to be withdrawn from consideration. Apparently a slow learner, husband Bill allowed Hillary to make some more recommendations. She chose former law partners Web Hubbel for the Justice Department, Vince Foster for the White House staff, and William Kennedy for the Treasury Department. Her selections went well: Hubbel went to prison, Foster (presumably) committed suicide, and Kennedy was forced to resign. Many younger voters will have no knowledge of "Travelgate." Hillary wanted to award unfettered travel contracts to Clinton friend Harry Thompson - and the White House Travel Office refused to comply. She managed to have them reported to the FBI and fired. This ruined their reputations, cost them their jobs, and caused a thirty-six month investigation. Only one employee, Billy Dale was charged with a crime, and that of the enormous crime of mixing personal and White House funds. A jury acquitted him of any crime in less than two hours. Still not convinced of her ineptness, Hillary was allowed to recommend a close Clinton friend, Craig Livingstone, for the position of Director of White House security. When Livingstone was investigated for the improper access of about 900 FBI files of Clinton enemies (Filegate) and the widespread use of drugs by White House staff, suddenly Hillary and the president denied even knowing Livingstone, and of course, denied knowledge of drug use in the White House. Following this debacle, the FBI closed its White House Liaison Office after more than thirty years of service to seven presidents. Next, when women started coming forward with allegations of sexual harassment and rape by Bill Clinton, Hillary was put in charge of the "bimboeruption" and scandal defense. Some of her more notable decisions in the debacle were: She urged her husband not to settle the Paula Jones lawsuit. After the Starr investigation they settled with Ms. Jones. She refused to release the Whitewater documents, which led to the appointment of Ken Starr as Special Prosecutor. After $80 million dollars of taxpayer money was spent, Starr's investigation led to Monica Lewinsky, which led to Bill lying about and later admitting his affairs. Hillary's devious game plan resulted in Bill losing his license to practice law for 'lying under oath' to a grand jury and then his subsequent impeachment by the House of Representatives. Hillary avoided indictment for perjury and obstruction of justice during the Starr investigation by repeating, "I do not recall," "I have no recollection," and "I don't know" a total of 56 times while under oath. After leaving the White House, Hillary was forced to return an estimated $200,000 in White House furniture, china, and artwork that she had stolen. What a swell person - ready for another four or eight years of this low-life fool? Now we are exposed to the unsecure keeping and attempted destruction of beyond Top Secret emails while Hillary was US Secretary of State and the "pay to play" schemes of the Clinton Foundation. I am amazed to talk to the progressive communist women Democrats that are voting for Hillary because she is a woman.  I suppose if Bonnie Parker of Bonnie and Clyde fame was running they would vote for her too, probably a better choice at least Bonnie was an honest crook.

 

This reminds me of “we have to vote for Obama because he is black and we want the first black president”; look where that got us.

A little history lesson, now that many schools made history a volunteer class, when women were given the right to vote one of the arguments against that was, “women think with their hearts and not their heads”.  Is this history all over again?  This is not all women; but a large number who seem to be in the younger progressive communist movement.

Hillary Clinton is a crook and a pathological liar, always has been and always will be.  Now on the other hand we have one strange dude running against her.  The choice between the two is scary; but, Trump is the more stable of the two, he is a political neophyte and keeps stepping on his private parts.  We had a saying in the army when we dealt with a dummy; he has a penis that is 4” long and 12” wide because of stepping on it (meaning stupidity).

The Louisiana State Police had received numerous reports of illegal cock fighting being held in the area around Abbeville and had sent their famous Detective Boudreaux from Thibodeaux to investigate.   Boudreaux promptly began his investigation and then reported to his Commander the next morning.

 

"Dey is tree main groups involve in dis rooster Fightin", he began.

"Good work! Who are they?" the Commander asked.

Anybody that has been paying attention to the news has been seeing the lack of readiness for our military.  It is with all branches, Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard.  They blame it all on lack of money.

The news articles that have drawn the most attention is the Air Force who some air fighter squadrons are only 43% combat readiness.  They are cannibalizing museum air craft for spare parts as is the Marine fighter squadrons, all because of no money, no parts.

What is interesting is Air Force one appears to be very well maintained and flies all together too much.  How can a responsible president frequently (as well as the elite family) spends millions of dollars for fancy vacations while our servicemen and women are in danger.  It would appear that it would be prudent to cut the White House budget dramatically and put the money into spare parts so our KIDS (military) have a fighting chance.

The more and more we look at this presidency the more and more we can see that this is a social experiment that went wrong.  

TED CRUZ-IS HE QUALIFIED TO BE PRESIDENT???

Qualifications:

1.        Is being backed by the D.C. establishment

2.        It is widely known that he is a liar

3.       He is taking millions of $ from the D.C. lobbyists and establishment special interests (money goes to those who are for sale).

4.       It has been reported by several news agencies and news outlets that Cruz has had numerous extra marital affairs denying them and then trying to convince the conservative voters that he is one of us and an evangelical.

5.       He does not like or respect the people of NY and openly mocked them; now is trying to lie his way out that and trying to get their votes.

6.       He attacks other candidate’s wives and when he gets caught tries to lie his way out of it.

I was talking to Bill Clinton (not really) and we were discussing what qualified means and it looks like Cruz is qualified to be our next president.

SOMETHINGS NEVER CHANGE!!!

There once was  a king who wanted to go fishing.

He called the royal weather forecaster and inquired as to the weather forecast for the next few hours. The weatherman assured him that there was no chance of rain in the coming days. So the king went fishing with his wife, the queen.

On the way he met a farmer on his donkey. Upon seeing the king the farmer said, "Your Majesty, you should return to the palace at once because in just a short time I expect a huge amount of rain to fall in this area".

 The king was polite and considerate, he replied: "I hold the palace meteorologist in high regard. He is an extensively educated and experienced professional.  And besides, I pay him very high wages. He gave me a very different forecast. I trust him and I will continue on my way." So he continued on his way.

 However, a short time later a torrential rain fell from the sky. The King and Queen were totally soaked and their entourage chuckled upon seeing them in such a shameful condition.  

Furious, the king returned to the palace and gave the order to fire the professional. Then he summoned the farmer and offered him the prestigious and high paying role of royal forecaster. The farmer said, "Your Majesty, I do not know anything about forecasting. I obtain my information from my donkey. If I see my donkey's ears drooping, it means with certainty that it will rain." 

So the king hired the donkey. 

 And thus began the practice of hiring dumb asses to work in the government and occupy its highest and most influential positions. 

And the practice is unbroken to this date...

DONALD TRUMP SPEECH!!!

As your president one of the saddest parts of my job will be to send our young men and women into combat in the defense of our families, our country and our allies.  My only orders to your commanders and to you are to WIN!!

 

It goes without saying; but, I want to make this perfectly clear, when I send you into combat I expect you to come home and in one piece what you have to do to win will be decided by your commanders and you.  I will not condone criminal behavior, (murder-rape –or robbery).

 

I want this war on terror to be governed by our officers and enlisted people and I don’t expect you to be looking over your shoulders to see if a Jihadist sympathizing president will court martial you for protecting a seven year old boy from multiple rapes.

 

I will make sure that while you are overseas your families will be taken care of and protected especially since the militant Muslims have called on your families to be killed; NOT ON MY WATCH!!

Every day you are overseas fighting ISIS, I will say a prayer for your safety and to bring this war to an end and for you to have a victory parade.

 

Please forgive those dumb asses liberal Democrats who do not have a clue about the importance of your jobs and your defense of the great freedoms and legacy of the United States of America.
